| About Micronesian Cultures |
| Aloha and Mahalo to all
of you that joined us at the Fall 2009 presentation: "Micronesians Our Newest
Neighbors: Understanding Micronesian Cultures - Strategies for Working
With Families & Students." Several of you asked about additional resources available in helping you work with our Micronesian neighbors. In an effort to continue promoting a better understanding, we would like to direct you to: 1. Micsem.Org (http://www.micsem.org) for more information on Micronesian culture. We hope that this site proves to be a valuable tool in your future endeavors, it is full of useful information, readings, and videos that are free to download. 2. Below, we have attached “A Teacher’s Tale” from a Micronesian Seminar website which provides deeper understanding for teachers and service providers about Micronesian Cultures. 3. “Voyaging Together to New Life: A Handbook for Newcomers to Hawaii” can be downloaded for free on this website (http://www.hawaiipirc.org/handbook) or purchased. It is available in English, Chuukese, Marshallese, and Spanish. 4. Canisius Filibert (one of our great presenters) has kindly offered himself for a further resource, he can be contacted at: Canisius Filibert <filiberc@prel.org> |
