| HCDB OIA Judo Champion! |
 Photo by REBECCA BREYER | The Honolulu Advertiser(click on photo to enlarge) On April 18, 2009 Myer A. (HCDB High School Freshman playing for Kalani High School) won 2nd place in the OIA East High School Judo Tournament for the 198# weight group. That was pretty good. But, on April 25th, 2009, Myer won 1st place in the OIA High School Judo Championships! This means our Deaf student beat out ALL other Oahu public High School students in his weight group!!! At the championships Myer had 4 matches and won each one by throwing his opponents with great skill and technique! On Saturday May 9th Myer participated in the Hawaii High School Atheletic Association Judo Championships, where he represented Oahu public schools in the 198# weight division. The State Championships was held at the Stan Sherrif Center at the University of Hawaii and Myer acheived 3rd place for the state in his weight class! Myer, representing HCDB by himself, earned 9 points and allowed HCDB to rank 16th (out of 27 schools) - way to go Myers! - by Scott
