The Hawaii School for the Deaf and the Blind (HSDB) is a public non-profit preschool to 12th grade educational facility in the State of Hawaii. This web site is designed to support educational purposes only, and is not intended for personal use. HSDB respects the intellectual property of others, and we attempt to give credit for any idea and/or sources we use on our web site. If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please contact our webmaster. The HSDB web site is designed to be consistent with the goals of the State of Hawaii Department of Education. Unauthorized access to the Department of Education information systems, Internet, or other networked computers is not permitted. Users shall not compromise the integrity of any telecommunications infrastructure. It is mandatory for all HSDB users to be trained in the following areas; telecommunications overview, electronic communication ethnics and user responsibility, internet policies and guidelines. E-mail accounts may be used only by the authorized owners except as specifically authorized by the system administrators. In the case of class accounts, all use must be under the supervision of a sponsoring teacher. Participants shall respect the privacy of other users. Users shall not intentionally seek information on, obtain copies of, or modify files, other data, or passwords belonging to other users, and shall not represent themselves as other users. Users of electronic mail and the internet are responsible for all communications under their account and are responsible to make only those contacts leading to some justifiable educational purpose. Students are required to report the receipt of any unsolicited communications to their sponsoring teachers immediately. Users may not harass other users by sending annoying, obscene, libelous, or threatening messages. Hate mail, harassment, discriminatory remarks, other antisocial behaviors, and chain letters are prohibited on the network. Use of the DOE internet is a privilege. Users who do not comply with the HSDB Internet Acceptable Use Policy will lose their network privileges. Repeated or severe infractions of the policy may result in permanent termination of access privileges. Unauthorized use of the network, as well as intentional deletion or damage of files and data belonging to other users and the Department of Education, may be deemed to be violations as defined under DOE Chapter 19, and/or the Hawaii Revised Statutes (H.R.S.). The above described acceptable use practices are not all-inclusive, but only representative and illustrative. A user who commits an act of misconduct which is not listed above may also be subject to disciplinary action. Users shall respect the copyright laws and licensing agreements pertaining to material entered into and obtained via the internet. Users shall make proper citations and not plagiarize. The use of the network to access pornographic materials, and sites whose content contains adult entertainment/sex, gambling, hacking, and weapons is prohibited. At HSDB, teachers and staff members have the opportunity to publish their own web pages. Students are also encouraged to create web pages under the supervision of their classroom teachers. We encourage personal expression and will not edit or censor student's work unless it is in direct violation of DOE policies. Information on this web page is subject to change without notice and is not guaranteed to be error free. Any errors that do exist are unintentional, and we apologize for such errors. In addition, viewers are reminded to evaluate information for accuracy and relevance. Please be advised that links on these pages may lead you to web sites that are not on the HSDB server. Links to other sites should not be considered an endorsement, and we take no responsibility for the content of external web sites. The Internet is a highly volatile place and web sites change suddenly. Information in the HSDB web sites are provided by many different people. While we try to keep it accurate and up-to-date, we cannot guarantee that it always will be.
