HSDB Student Body Government
HSDB Student Body Government (SBG) is a student-run organization for Middle School and High School students. SBG gives students an opportiunity to practice government procedures - such as running for and voting for officers, as well as acting in office roles (including President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant-of-Arms).

SBG allows students to suggest, vote-on, plan, carry-out and sponsor student activities - such as Halloween Parties, Winter Activities, Valentine's Day Party, Spirit Week, Bowling, bi-annual Camp, Senior Recognition Lunch and other activities. Service
activities may include Food Drives, clothing/school-supply drives as well as fundraising for certain community causes (such as the Red Cross).

SBG has a $10 dues for students to become members. SBG Members are entitled to above activities either free or at reduced costs. SBG does fundraising to support its activities - the annual ASL Calendar sale and T-Shirt sale are the main fundraisers.

SBG meetings, student-run leadership and various activities help students achieve the Hawaii DOE General Learner Outcome (GLO) #2: Community Contributor (The understanding that it is essential for human beings to work together).

SBG Camp
HCDB Student Body Government (SBG) strives to camp leadership training every other year (years ending with odd numbers [2005, 2007, 2009, etc.]). For the past eight years, HCDB Middle School and High School students have attended the YMCA Camp Erdman on the north shore of Oahu.

NOTE: Attendance to Camp, Leadership Training and other SBG Events are not a mandatory part of the school curriculum. Students must have passing grades and and CARE Scores (good behavior) to attend such events.
